LINEAGE

29:00, 1979. An anti-cartoon essay on animation’s contradictory legacy: comedy and formalism. It pays tribute to scribbly self-conscious processes as well as vaudevillian quick-sketch artists. Referencing the early films of the Fleischers it is both a photographic documentary and an incoherent fantasy.

Restoration by IndieCollect, in collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art, 2019.
